  2. Interesting Information Band-aids actually came from Listerine. It all started in the 1860’s. A surgeon, Sir Joseph Lister created the antibacterial liquid. This was used in bandages. At first the bandages were too big for cuts and scrapes. That is when Dickson got the idea to create the first small band-aid. Bandages are very useful. They help heal cuts. They also prevent infections, scabbing, and scarring. People use bandages everyday. Bandages also soft and cushiony. It will help stop the blood from a bleeding cut.

  3. Inventor Earle Dickson invented the band-aid in 1921. He was working at Johnson & Johnson when he first created the band-aid. His boss that it was brilliant idea. At first the bandages were not very popular. They were made by hand, until the first machine was made to make bandages in 1924. They were completely sterilized. Dickson got his idea from his wife. While preparing food she would always cut her finger. Bandages are now used all around the world!

  4. Ideas that lead to the invention of band-aids The first real band-aid was created in 1921. Other bandages were big and clumsy. Earle Dickson worked at Johnson & Johnson when he first created the band-aid. There were many ideas that leaded to this. His wife, Josephine Dickson would always cut her finger while making dinner. Dickson attached gauze to a piece of tape, and then covered it with crinoline to keep the tape from sticking to itself. His boss was very impressed. Soon the band-aids were being produced. Earle was rewarded and was the Vice President in Johnson & Johnson Company.

  5. How did bandages change our lives? Bandages are used all over the world today for cuts, scrapes, blisters and bruises. Bandages come in handy for a cut. They help heal cuts faster. An open cut would sure get infected and be much worse. Bandages cover the cut with antibacterial liquid that help it heal. It has changed our lives very much. Nowadays when people get a cut, they cover it with a bandage to keep the germs out. A covered wound will form a new smooth tissue. This way it heals more efficiently. Plus, no one likes scarring. A cut covered will decrease the chances of scarring and scabbing.
