  3. Expectations • Please be prompt. Class starts at 3:30. • Cell phones will be collected at the beginning of class, returned during break. • Bring your SAT book to class • If you must miss class, please let us know • Class agendas are posted • Please be respectful toeveryone in the class • You will have a break between sections (4:55-5:05. You may have a snack then. • Please do not eat during class. Water is ok to have. • Bring your best self to class…it’s a long day for EVERYONE! 

  5. Parts of the exam • English • Critical reading • Sentence completion (19) • Passage-based reading (48) • Three sections: 25/25/20 minutes each Writing -Identifying sentence errors (18) -Improving sentences (25) -Improving paragraphs (6) -Essay writing (1)/25 minutes 25 and 10 minutes

  6. How the exam is scored • Multiple choice questions • 1 point for each question answered correctly • 0 points for unanswered questions • -1/4 point for each incorrect answer • Fractions in final scores are rounded up Essays 2 to 12 points, blank essays get a 0
