  2. You describe a place, a thing, or a person. • The writing is logical not chronological. • The sentences and details are arranged according to where the objects described are located. Writing

No set pattern for arranging sentences. • Not necessary to begin with one area and then proceed to another area. • The description needs to be organized so the reader catches a vividly image. • You become an artist with words. • The arrangement of the details in your description depends on your subject and purpose. • The description could focus on something that dominates the scene. Description of a Place

  4. Details are organized spatially to give the reader a clear picture of the scene. • Spatial expressions are adverbs of place • Most are prepositional phrases ( preposition + noun phrase) Coherence

An adjective clause modifies a noun and like and adverbial clause, cannot stand alone as a sentence. • An adjective clause can be placed only after the noun it modifies; it can never be at the beginning of a sentences • Example • It’s a small mouth that looks delicate and feminine. • As you walk into the room, you are stop short by my bed, which fills half the room.
