  2. What is PublicIITy? • A project designed as a better means to inform students • Utilizes a new, creative and innovative approach • Encompasses all of campus and its surroundings • Effects all students

  3. What does PublicIITy want to fix • Misinformed students being led astray through social media forms such as Facebook, Twitter etc… • Improve the quality of campus of life • Put meaning back into what being a ‘Tech’ school means!

  4. Problems of Concern • Students think IIT is a ‘dead’ campus • There’s nothing to do on the weekends • No MEDIA room

  5. People Required • 16-30 people • 3 levels: • Media 1: no experience/learn how to use software/create commercials & ads • Media 2: Intermediate/Create news programs • Media 3: Advanced/Can handle anything you throw at them • Roles: • Camera Man • Reporter – don’t need the technical expertise • Editors • Advisor/Feedback Crew – Inform media team if video is g2g

If given the $$$ • Software (provided by the school?): • Final Cut Pro • iMovie • GarageBand • Space • Computer Lab • Green Screen Room • Soundproof Room -> Voice-Over • Tech: • Video Cameras • Lvl 1: Low-Tech Handhelds ($40-80 apiece) • Lvl 2: in Between 1080p ($200-300) • Lvl 3: Require Tripod ( $300-400) • Recording Devices

  7. Benefits: • Students can add this experience of using the software and equipment to resumes • Keep current students involved • Keep Alumni/Admin informed • Sync the student body • Student-to-Student • Student-to-Faculty • Student-to-Admin • Learn Public Speaking • RECOGNITION • COMMUNICATION

PROCESS,PRESENTATION,DEADLINES!! • PROCESS: • Split into 2 teams ( 8 & 8) • Video every other week • Need to know what WILL happen, not IS • Plan 3 weeks Before Date • Presentation: • On IIT’s website • Create Our Own website • YouTube Channel • FaceBook Page • Admin Undergraduate Page • Twitter

CONTENT INVOLVED • Athletics (Past & Future) • Student Organization Promotion (Recruitment) • Recognize Individuals (Coaches, Professors, Students) • Infomercials/Comedy • Examples: • How to work a microwave • #TechProblems • Video Game Reviews • Weather Updates (2 ft deep puddles) • President Anderson attempts (--)

  10. CONTENT INVOLVED (cont) • Chicago News: • Restaurant Reviews • Movie Reviews • Festivals • Cultural Events (international) • Hottest Songs of the week • Interviews: • To address student concerns (Snow Days) • Dining Staff • Athletics • Admin (tuition increase)

  12. Regulations/Questions to Consider/Concerns • Is it an official product of the school? • What if a student wants to report something that he/she believes is wrong with campus?

  13. IMPLEMENTATION! • Creation of media room 1-2 years = Short-Term • Until then, use unofficial locations
