Tips for building servant leadership skills • Know yourself. • Know your strengths & weaknesses • Don’t be afraid to make mistakes. • No one is perfect; people make mistakes • Find a role model. • Focus on others. • The best leaders are servants – they do things for others. • Listen. Listen. Listen. • Successful leaders listen to the those around them. • Set goals. • You need to know what you want and the resources you have available to help you achieve your goals.

Good sportsmanship means good conduct. • Know and follow the rules of the sport or activity. • Respect officials and accept their decisions. • Maintain self control at all times. • Respect opponents, even when they win. • Cheer and communicate positively • React appropriately, even when others don’t.

  21. Encourage teammates. Cheer them on and applaud their efforts. Know and follow the rules of the game. Give your best effort everyday. Respect the officials (teachers, parents…) and their decisions – even when it isn’t what you want to hear. Respect our opponent. Avoid name-calling and dirty play (watch your language in general). Accept responsibility for your actions and those of your team. Avoid arguments. Play fair. Respect yourself, your opponent and the game.
