Glossary • Acute: less than 90 degrees • Obtuse: more than 90 degrees • Right: equals 90 degrees • Straight: 180 degrees • Skew: lines on different planes that do not intersect • Linear pair: two angles that form a straight line and their sum in 180 degrees. (have to next to each other/have to touch) • Protractor: a tool used to measure angles • Degrees: measurement of a angle; a circle is 360 degrees • Segment: a part of a line with two endpoints • Ray: A line with one endpoint and extends in the other direction to infinity • Perpendicular: lines that intersect and form 90 degree corners • Parallel: lines do not intersect and remain the same distance apart • Plane: a flat surface that extend without end • Reflex angle: greater 180 degrees but less than 360 degrees • Complementary angles: add together to form 90 degrees • Supplementary angles: add together to form 180 degrees; do not have to touch
