Paper 1 – AASC1 Paper 2 – AASC2 • Proteins – their functions and uses • Aerobic and anaerobic respiration • Cell division and inheritance • Speciation • Cells and simple cell transport • Tissues, organs and organ systems • Photosynthesis • Organisms and their environment • Rates of reaction • Exothermic and endothermic reactions • Acids, bases and salts • Electrolysis • Structure and bonding • Structure, properties and uses of substances • Atomic structure, analysis and quantitative chemistry • Using mains electricity • Radioactive decay • Nuclear fission and nuclear fusion • Forces and their effects • Kinetic energy of objects • Currents in electrical circuits

  4. Exam content and dates The examined content of Additional Science is covered in two exam papers: • Unit 1 (AAS1HP ) – 15th May, am • Unit 2 (AAS2HP) – 19thMay, pm

  5. Preparation for exams Start now if you have not already done so. Look through your book and revision guide to identify topics you are less confident with. Get help with these – don’t struggle on your own, speak to your teacher as soon as possible. . Start revising! You now need to learn the content for the exam Mind maps are also a useful way of organising and summarising each unit. Producing revision notes that makes the content more structured, concise and memorable is very effective. Find a revision technique that suits you. If you need some help with this ask your teacher! Give someone your notes and get them to test you. This is the only way to find out if you really know it. Continue to revise and be tested until you are confident you know the course content. Attend revision sessions at school. Now is the time to start practising past exam questions and applying your knowledge. Remember Ask for help with sections you don’t understand. Learn it! Keep asking for help.

  6. Revision Sessions and Revision guides • Revision Sessions • Every Tuesday starting March 10th after school • Revision Guides • Available to buy for £2.75 – ask your Science teacher.
