  3. Important Upcoming Dates • First Student Day is Monday, August 25th • Open House will be held on September 18th from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M • Parent Conferences: November 20th and 24th 4:00 to 7:30

  4. PSSA/Keystone Weeks • April 13-May 1 – PSSA • Mid to late May – Algebra 1 – Keystone Exam • Every effort should be made to not schedule appointments or vacations during these days. Absences during this week without a Drs. note will be considered unexcused.

Gym Class The requirement: • 2 Marking Periods (everyday) with combination Health • Shorts or sweat pants and a t-shirt or sweatshirt • Sneakers must be worn with laces tied • No jeans or street clothes. • Unprepared for class will result in an alternative writing assignment • All jewelry must be removed • Medical exemptions must be provided to school nurse

  13. Entering Penn’s Grove @ 7:00 • Bus riders enter the door near the cafeteria. • Car riders enter the doors at the event entrance. • Where to wait for the morning bell! • Cafeteria for breakfast • Sit in the auditorium • Please try and remember your bus on the first day of school

  14. After the morning Bell Rings • Dismissed to go to your locker • You will get a few minutes at your lockers to get ready for morning classes • Then you are to report to your homeroom by 7:35

  15. 7th Grade Hallway and Lockers • Upstairs • Share hallway with 3 teams • You will be dismissed and accepted into your core classrooms in a line • You will get a couple minutes a few times throughout the day to stop by your locker in between classes *Hint: It is SO much easier to find your books in an organized locker!!*

  18. Dismissal • Announcement 2:15-2:25 • Lockers • Exit to Buses: Garfield Street • Pick-up by Parent: S. 5th Street • After School Activities: Report Designated Locations • ONLY students participating in a supervised activity may remain after 2:25

School-wide Positive Behavior •  Teachers will present PRIDE lessons • Classroom, Hallway, Cafeteria, Bus, Locker Room and Special Events • Penn’s Grove PRIDE through the Principal’s 200 Club • “Stinger” ticket to any student exemplifying one of the 4 characteristics • Magnet will be placed at the number picked • 10 magnets in a row, those 10 students win the Mystery Motivator

Student’s Expectations • Follow the principles of PRIDE • Engage in learning activities • Take responsibility for his/her own behavior • Be courteous • Respect the personal, civil, and property rights • Attend school regularly, on time, and prepared to learn • Complete assignments on time • Seek alternatives to verbal or physical conflicts • Speak appropriately • Exhibit self-control • Cooperate with others • Behave ethically

  25. Student Agenda Book AGENDA MUST REMAIN INTACT IT IS YOUR PASS FOR THE HALL STUDENTS NOT HAVING THEIR AGENDA ARE SUBJECT TO DISCIPLINARY CONSEQUENCES

  26. Grading • Grading Timeline: • End of First Marking Period • 10/30/14 • End of Second Marking Period • 1/22/15 • End of Third Marking Period • 3/31/15 • End of Fourth Marking Period • 6/9/15 • We encourage parent meetings as needed.

  27. Grading • Any student who has failed one core subject (Language Arts, Mathematics, Science or Social Studies), will be required to attend and pass an on-line middle school credit recovery class to be promoted • Personal cost for tuition

  28. Electronic Devices • Turned off and left in locker during the school day. • Parents contact main office to leave messages for students. • 1st offense – electronic device is confiscated and given to an administrator. Student may retrieve after 2:30 pm. • 2nd offense – electronic device is confiscated and given to an administrator. Parent may retrieve after 2:30 pm • 3rd and all subsequent offenses – electronic device is confiscated and given to an administrator. Parent may retrieve after 2:30 pm. Student is assigned to ISS.

  29. Dress Code • Oxford students are expected to dress tastefully and appropriately for weather conditions. • Tops – Must have sleeves, cover midriffs, no cleavage • Bottoms – High enough to cover all undergarments, long enough to mid-thigh • Shoes – Cover entire foot, NO flip-flops or slippers. • Sandals are allowed; however, they must have a strap around the back.

  30. Attendance • All absence notes are due into the office within 3 days. • Students are to bring the notes to the office before homeroom. • Failure to send in notes will result in the absence being marked unexcused and letters will be sent. • After second unexcused absence, a Truancy Elimination Plan meeting (TEP) will be offered. • After 3 letters, citations will be issued. • Priors – If you know that your student will be missing school, i.e. for vacations, a request for absence should be made at least ONE WEEK in advance for administrators approval and teacher notification.

  31. Excessive Absences • Excessive absences – students that accumulate 10 absences throughout the school year (for any reason) will be put on Drs. note and Drs. notes will be required for ALL future absences. • Failure to produce Drs. notes will result in absences being unexcused. • Citations for truancy will be issued.

  32. Early Dismissal/Tardiness • Notes for early dismissal should be brought to the office prior to homeroom. • Tardiness – • In homeroom by 7:35 each morning. • Students arriving after 7:35 must report to the office to sign in. • 4th unexcused tardy, a referral will be made to the administration for disciplinary action. • Habitually tardy students may face disciplinary measures.
