Welcome to Mrs. Doster’s Kindergarten Class. Please come in and sit down; we will begin shortly. Please complete the child information sheet found at your child’s desk. Who is Ms. Doster?. I am starting my 3rd year as a teacher. I have taught Kindergarten in CISD for all 3 years.

  1. Welcome to Mrs. Doster’s Kindergarten Class Please come in and sit down; we will begin shortly. Please complete the child information sheet found at your child’s desk.

  2. Who is Ms. Doster? • I am starting my 3rd year as a teacher. • I have taught Kindergarten in CISD for all 3 years. • I love this age group and I look forward to getting to know all of my new students!

  3. Drop off • For the first three days of school, you may park and walk your child to his/her class. • Students can be dropped off starting at 7:30 in the front of the school. • Students will be picked up from the gym by the teacher at 7:50. • Instruction begins at 8:00.

  4. Pick Up • Dismissal is at 3:10 in the front of the building. • Please make sure you have a sign in your window with your child’s name and my name on it when you come to pick up your child. • A teacher will help your child get in the car.

  5. Bus / Daycare and Bike Riders • Students will have their bus number or name of daycare written on their hand in washable marker. • Students may ride a bike to and from school but once on school property they must push it.

  6. Transportation Changes • If you know your child will be going home a different way, please write a note in your child’s red folder. • If there is a last minute change in the way your child will go home, please call the office so I can make sure your child is in the right dismissal location. • I can not change the way the child usually goes home without a note or call from you.

  7. Lunch Money • Please make sure to put lunch money in a Ziploc bag with your child’s name, my name, and amount written on the bag. • Please put the Ziploc bag in your child’s red folder. • The cafeteria will not allow more than 3 charges to a student’s account.

  8. Red Folder • Everyday your child will bring home a red folder. • In the red folder you will find a calendar and a communication log. • On the calendar you can see how your child’s discipline was during the day and students will have a snack day listed by their name.

  9. Class Expectations 1. We will follow directions. 2. We will keep hands, feet, and objects to ourselves. 3. We will listen when others are speaking. 4. We will work quietly so we do not to disturb others. 5. We will ask permission before we leave the room. 6. We will always do our best.

  10. Color Changes • Green- Great Day! Up to one verbal warning. • Yellow- Good Day! Up to two verbal warnings • Red- Okay Day. More than two verbal warnings. Miss 5 minutes of recess or free centers • Purple - Could be better day. Many verbal warnings. Miss 10 minutes of recess or free centers. Phone call, email or note home to parents. • Blue- Rough day. Many verbal warnings. Miss all of recess or free centers. Phone call, email or note home to parents. Visit with principal

  11. How Can You Help Our Classroom? • There will be many opportunities for you to volunteer in different ways throughout the year. • If you would like to donate something that our classroom needs, please take a sticky note from the door.

  12. Curriculum Night • Is on September 8 at 6:00. • I encourage all of you to attend in order to gain a better understanding of what your child needs to be successful.

  14. Supplies • Please place two pencils, a pair of scissors, and a box of crayons into your child’s pencil box. Please make sure his or her name is on the box and place it inside his or her desk. • Please place all other unlabeled supplies in the designated areas around the room. • Make sure you have a picture taken with your child before you leave. • Please speak with me about any concerns you have about your child on an individual basis before you leave. • Make sure I get your child’s information sheet!
