  1. November 20, 2013 “Act Local PBL at Hicks Elementary School” By Curtis Martin

  2. Academic Medal Plan During the 2013-2014 school year, students will collect 6 “badges” towards their academic medal which will be awarded at the end of the year ceremonies. Students with all 6 badges will earn a Gold, 5 badges a Silver, and 4 badges a Bronze. Badge 1- Organization Badge -Students will create an E-Portfolio Google Site (in their LISD Google Account) titled(Student’s Name, space, and Website) They will add a page for their “Biography” and add a page for their grade level work. This is where they will link all future E-Portfoliodocuments. - Suggested Timeline- first six weeks Badge 2: Friendship Badge - After taking “Rachel’s Challenge” students will watch the Hicks Anti-Bullying PSA’s and complete an on-line survey to digitally commit to anti-bullying. Badge 3- Social Responsibility Badge - Students will complete all Tom Hicks TV digital citizen activities during the Second 9 weeks. Badge 4- Communication Badge - Students will publish their Act Local PBL on their grade level page on their E-Portfolio Google Site. Students will also e-mail their Act Local project from their Google e-mail account to Mrs. Andrews to be posted to the main Hicks Web Site. Badge 5: Collaboration Badge -Students will complete any content based PBL (Other than Act Local), and publish it in their grade level page on their E-Portfolio Google Site. Badge 6: Presentation Badge -Students will present to an assessment board their Digital Portfolio with 3 work samples.
