Objectives • To learn from collective experience and identify the key developments from previous disasters. • To understand what partnerships models, informational needs and tools and services would enable more effective partnerships. • To build consensus around shared priorities and challenges. • To build a network for peer-to-peer knowledge sharing and capacity building in Indonesia

  5. Spotlight on risk and vulnerability in Indonesia Aim: To share examples of lessons learned from recent natural disasters in Indonesia or regionally Outcomes: Identify areas for potential future collaboration

Breakout 1: Context • Based on your experience preparing for or responding to disasters and your organization/role, • What interesting lessons have been learned? • What are you most interested in learning about during the workshop? • 3. What challenges have you faced and what would you prioritise as an issue most hampering your disaster preparedness/response activities?

  8. Lessons from and approaches to disasters in Indonesia Aim: To share both opportunities and challenges for MNOs and partners in disaster response in Indonesia or regionally Outcomes: To provide a better understanding of operator activity and opportunities for disaster preparedness in Indonesia

Breakout 2: Responding now and in the future • What plans are in place within your organization when disaster strikes? • How do you see your organisation adapting to meet the increased prevalence of disasters? • Is there a hierarchy of needs that the mobile community could prioritise in Indonesia in regards to disaster preparedness or response? (i.e. establishing basic connectivity, SMS code of conduct, information products)

Humanitarian coordination and partnerships Aim: To share examples of existing partnerships and critical success factors to making these predictable and mutually beneficial Outcomes: Identifying areas for partnership development between MNOs, NGOs, local and international humanitarian organizations and Governmental DR agencies

  13. Breakout 3: Partnerships • Who are the partners you need to have in advance and what information do you need to share with each other? • 2. What challenges have you faced in developing predictable partnerships? How do you develop lasting partnerships when disasters are infrequent? • 3. How do we as a community of interested people work together between disasters and how can the GSMA work to support this to make sure these partnerships are resilient?
