IST4Balt summary • IST4Balt is a multi-partner action that intends to promote the IST innovation activities in Baltic States entering the EU • This coordination action (2.3.6), being focused at Strategic Objective 2.3.2.6 Applications and services for the mobile user and worker, at the same time targets other IST activity areas: 2.3.2.3 Open development platforms for software and services, 2.3.2.7 Cross-media content for leisure and entertainment, 2.3.2.9 Improving Risk management, 2.3.2.10 e-Inclusion • IST4Balt promotes the IST Priority in Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia by dissemination and awareness actions, including conferences and workshops, technology studies, demonstrations, training • The project will unite the leading Baltic telematic organizations and will result in creation of Trans-Baltic IST association

IST4Balt objectives • Promote the FP6 IST Priority to Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia • Select and demonstrate in the Baltic countries IST developed services and tools • Develop a system of three goal oriented Information Dissemination Centers (IDCs) • Develop a system of IST4Balt Web-sites • Publish three issues of IST4Balt News Journal • Provide coordination, support and co-organize Baltic ICT events - three INFOBALT-IST4Balt conferences in Vilnius in October 2005, 2006, 2007, three Baltic IT&T-IST4Balt conferences in Riga in April 2005, 2006, 2007, and organize IST training day inside the conference “Logistics and information technologies in international trade” in Tallinn in December 2005. • Provide training measures to promote IST Priority and the FP6 • Create Trans-Balt IST Association uniting the leading Baltic ICT organizations

IST telematic tools (WP 5) • Reinforcement of EU - Baltic States team working and development of a community capable to operate efficiently in modern information society: • Selection of the most innovative IST developed non-commercial tools applicable for EU-Baltic States team work • Demonstration of the selected EU telematic products at the project conferences, workshops, Web-sites, training courses, News Journal, etc. • Adaptation of the selected tools for IST4Balt project management activities and every day working collaboration between the partners • Introduction in Baltic countries of UNIDO system of e-certificates • IST telematic tools to be selected: • designed to be directly used by SMEs team work • applicable in present computer networking situation • inexpensive • can be localized

IST Event 2004 (1) • IST Event 2004, 15-17 November 2004, The Hague: • The Conference - with 30 sessions - will look at ways to harness information and communication technology (ICT) to enhance the prosperity, security and quality of life for all Europeans. • The Exhibition - with around 130 stands on an area of 8500 sq. m - will show how ICT enables new ways of living, working together, communicating, entertaining, and ensuring that every citizen benefits from the knowledge-based economy. • The European IST Prize will showcase a selection of 20 innovative information technology driven products. • The Networking Sessions - about 80 sessions - will bring participants together to discuss project ideas, research activities and business partnership. • IST Work Programme 2005-06 and Proposal Submission - this session will present the IST Work Programme for 2005-06: the Strategic Objectives, the priorities, the instruments and the details of how to make a proposal.
