  2. Lines 1 and 2 • These words have base words with the suffix –ment added. • Govern + ment = government • Pave + ment = pavement • Entertain + ment = entertainment • Involve + ment = involvement • How does the suffix –ment change the part of speech?

  3. Entertain is a verb. When you add the suffix –ment it changes to a noun.
