  2. 5 Factors that will impact your academic success this year • Effective study methods that suit YOU • Good examination writing skills • Completion of school based assessments • Good time management • Regular and consistent time set aside for academics

  3. Revise your own study skills • Visual: think in pictures; use diagrams and symbols where possible • Auditory: learn best through listening; discussions and recording work • Kinaesthetic: through experience; moving, touching, doing

  4. Where are you studying? • Sitting at a table in a quiet place • Work at the library or a friends house if you cannot work at home • Study 30 mins; Break 5 mins • Cell Phone must be switched OFF • Ask for no interruptions

  5. Dealing with Anxiety • Good preparation can decrease Anxiety and increase Confidence • Relaxation techniques can also be used • Go through the meditation or breathing technique we did in class • Consider Rescue Remedy

  6. Exam Preparation • Listening, completing homework & test preparation • Working consistently • Using a DIARY and STUDY PLANNER • 2-3 hours after school daily • Must be studying for a MINIMUM of 3 weeks, intensively before examinations

  7. Exam Day • Good breakfast – include protein and carbohydrates • Go over summaries • Prepare properly – what stationery do you need? • Try not to discuss the exam, before or after • Leave home in good time • Once the exam is over, concentrate on the next one

  8. In the exam… • Breathe….and try to centre yourself. • Check you have the correct paper! • Listen to any instructions • Ensure all your scripts have your name and/or number on each page • Consider your time-mark allocation (Page 40)

  9. Reading the Question and Planning Your Response • Read and make summaries for the following topics, in your note book: • Multiple Choice Questions: Pg 108 • Understanding Questions: Key words Page 110

  10. Study Plans 1: Use a Calendar or create your own one 2: Fill in Set Commitments, like sport etc. 3: Fill in Due Dates for Projects and Dates for exams/tests 4: Allocate a certain amount of time each day for home work. 5: Work backwards from your Due Dates and specifically allocate certain days for certain topics to study
