  1. PEO EXPERIENCE QUALITY- BASED CRITERIA The PEO experience requirement is four years of engineering work experience that you need to attain for your professional engineering licence. A minimum of one year of your experience has to be in a Canadian jurisdiction. It ensures that you have enough exposure to Canadian engineering codes, technical standards, legislation, and regulations. PEO assesses each applicant’s engineering experience against give quality-based criteria: · Application of theory · Practical experience · Management of engineering · Communication skills · Awareness of the social implication of engineering For an engineering licence, you need to demonstrate at least 48 months of acceptable and verifiable experience you earned after completing your undergraduate engineering degree. Experience record: Your PEO work experience record provides adequate information in the following organized way: Fill up the Experience Record Form by including the company name, location, and employment dates (month and year). Periods of absence from work (traveling, unemployed) have to be listed with dates, and For each position about which you are reporting, give the authority a small paragraph describing your job responsibilities with an emphasis on the engineering duties, and Give a convincing description of how the work experience earned in that position fulfills each of the five criteria (application of theory, practical experience, communication skills, management of engineering, and knowledge of the social implications of engineering). Let’s know about the social implications of engineering and communication skills.

  2. Communication skills: An opportunity for the development of communication skills is an important PEO experience requirement. It applies to all areas of the work environment, including communication with supervisors, co-workers, clients, government regulators, and the general public. For your experience in this area to be acceptable, you need to have regular opportunities to be involved in: 1. Preparing written work, including day-to-day correspondence, design briefs, and taking part in preparing major reports. 2. Making oral reports or presentations to workmates, supervisors, senior management, clients, or regulatory authorities. 3. Making presentations to the general public when such opportunities come up. Social implications of engineering: The social implications of engineering are an important engineering practice aspect. A professional engineering work environment can heighten your awareness of any negative and positive social implications of an engineering activity you take up. While not every activity or project will have direct or immediate social consequences, your applicant’s work experience must, nevertheless, instill an awareness of the following: · The importance or benefits of engineering works to the public; · The relationship between engineering activity and the public in general; · The safeguards in place to protect the employees and the public and migrate negative impacts; · The major role of regulatory agencies in the practice of engineering Experience in this area must foster an awareness of your responsibility as a professional engineer to guard against threatening or dangerous conditions to limb, life, property, or the environment, and to call such conditions to the attention of those responsible.
