Healthy Schools Challenge • Clear Creek Elementary • Food art during lunch- led by student nutrition team and staff for grades k-6 • Composting- led by student green teams • School Gardening • Biology instruction for 3rd grade students • Leadership teams for children in all grades- Green team and Student Nutrition team • Daily get moving activities • Healthy heart assemblies • Healthy snacks and breakfast during standardized testing days • Change the Play • GOAL University • Weekly staff exercise program • Biggest loser fitness challenge for staff

Elliptical, weight benches, bars, weights, safety padding, signage for proper form and education. • Every Kid Healthy Week • Boomer dunk show for fitness • School wide fitness video created by students and teachers followed by a school walk • Family Health Night • Ballroom Dance lessons for students, Martial Arts lessons for students • Colts Fitness Camp- training activities and circuits for students • Staff fitness challenges • Wellness curriculum in PE • Legacy Garden- outdoor classroom. • Organic raised bed vegetable garden

Healthy Schools Challenge • Highland Park Elementary • Morning Announcements/Morning Workout: Every classroom does a three minute workout routine to start the day with the morning show. • Brain Breaks: teachers play songs, dance, follow exercise videos, and routines throughout the school • Roller skating for students followed by a skate night at Western • Yoga classes for students during ISTEP • Hygiene, dental, nutrition, and fitness units • Fluency with Trampolines: students practice fluency while jumping on mini trampolines. • Salad bar for students • Energize • Family Life Class: knowledge on family life topics for fifth grade students • Zumba and Power Pump for staff • After School 5th and 6th grade basketball program: two days/week for two months. 5th and 6th grade game for community • Plans for building an indoor recess fitness facility

Health Council Awards • 5 annual MCCSC Health Council Awards • 3 Commitment to Lifelong Health and Wellness of Students • Each year 3 programs, teachers, staff, community members, etc. will be chosen to receive this award for dedication and impact towards improving the health and wellbeing of students in the district • 1 Commitment to Employee Health and Wellness • MCCSC employee that promotes health and wellness of staff • 1 Student Health and Wellness Leadership Award • Awarded to 1 student that exemplifies the mission of the Health Council among peers

Commitment to Lifelong Health and Wellness of Students • VOICE • Vocal Output and Input in a Controlled Environment • 50 females in grades 9-12. recommended by teachers as students who would benefit from additional on-going female support and guidance. • Social, emotional, physical, intellectual, environmental, financial, and spiritual wellness. • “Positive, healthy lifestyle choices in all aspects of our lives” • Yoga, Zumba, P90x, Walking, Women of Character Essay contest and luncheon, School gardening (mentoring day care kids), Media and Body image presentations, tutorial presentations on female images in the media and how to make positive choices, tutorial presentations on fitness, mental health, empowerment, etc.

Commitment to Lifelong Health and Wellness of Students • MiddleWayHouse • Healthy Relationship education to MCCSC students • Susan Dick- Clear Creek Elementary • Instrumental in leading health initiatives in her school such as School Gardens, Change the Play, GOAL University, etc. • Leadership and role modeling for students and staff.

  17. Commitment to Employee Health and Wellness • Jenny Noble-Kuchera-English as a New Language Teacher • Rogers/Binford • Staff wellness promotion in group exercise, etc.

  18. Student Health and Wellness Leadership Award • Caitlynn Sears- student • Created the new logo that was voted on by members of the MCCSC Health Council.

Other MCCSC Initiatives • University Family Fitness Night • Marlin Calm Classroom- relieve anxiety, esp before standardized testing. • School Gardens- Clear Creek, Jackson Creek, North/HHCC, Templeton, • GOAL University • ENERGIZE • Disc Golf Course at Batchelor • Morning Walking Club at Batchelor • Walking club at Arlington Heights El. • Bullying prevention program at Batchelor- Carousel • Nutrition tutorials in FCS • Health tips in bathroom posters • Fresh fruits/vegetables taste testing program. Nutrition education. • Walking challenges: walk to New Orleans, Yosemite National Park. Pedometer education. • Jump Rope for Heart Day • Field day • Recycling student committee at RB, monthly recycling poster contest • MOCMS Grants in Clear Creek, Jackson Creek, Bloomington North/Hoosier Hills. • IU Health Strong Schools Grants applied for by Marlin and Clear Creek • Platform for distributing ideas/initiatives in the community. I will begin to compile a list of initiatives that have been completed/are ongoing in the district. FCI committee
