Communicative Approach Students have frequent opportunities to communicate in the world language. • Teacher should use the second language (target language) for all classroom routines. • Teacher should use Negotiation of Meaning techniques. • Teacher should provide opportunities for students to use the target language to make connections to topics from other subject areas orally and in writing. 7 Best Practices for World Language Instruction App. 1.2 ( Page 3)

Communicative Approach Authentic cultural information is infused into world languages instruction. • Teacher should present new vocabulary in a cultural context. • Teacher should design cultural projects/tasks so that students must use the target language to complete the task.
