  1. Who inspires you? How do you use images and text in a unified composition? • Use principles of design (line) to organize elements (unity, emphasis, balance) to communicate meaning and unified concepts.

  2. Famous Inspiration Project Where do I find Inspiration? How can I use words to enhance my artwork? What is line art?

  3. What am I doing? • Choose a write, philosopher, poet, artist, musician, politician, athlete, or actor who has inspired you. Create a portrait using line and text. Use their words, lyrics, or other’s words about the person to enhance the portrait.

  4. The Steps • Research a famous person that interests you. Make sure you choose someone that will have enough info about them (not a new and budding artist). • Write down info that you want to include in your artwork about that person and their accomplishments. Include quotes and lyrics. • Search for pictures and text of and about your subject. You will be given two pages in which you can print on in the library. Other printing should be done at home.

  5. 4. Plan out your composition. You will be using Sharpie markers-think high contrast-no shading. 5. Use a border around you page 6. Think about if you would like to use vertical or horizontal orientation. 7.Use extreme care with lettering and craftsmanship. 8 Give credit for quotes if known. 9. As always, write your name on the back.

  6. Grading • The following are worth 25 points a piece… Neat and Complete: Are there stray marks? Does it look finished? Composition/Planning: Is the design well thought out? Did you sketch and plan? Theme: How effectively does the artwork convey the message? Overall impression: How successful is the artwork?
