  2. 2013-2016 Tables of Difficulty Manual This manual is a guide in calculating the value of skills under the 2013-2016 Tables of Difficulty. (ToD) A copy of the ToD can be found on the FIG Website, under the ‘Rules’ Section. This manual contains step by step examples. Calculating the Value of a Pair 3” Hold • Locate the position of the base. • The value on the right of the picture is the value of the position of the base. • On the same page locate the position of the top within one of the spider tables. • The value in the blue circle is the value given to the top • Combine the value given to the top and the value given to the base to calculate the total given for the skill. Proceed to Example Home

  6. Locate the position of the base. • The value on the right of the picture is the value of the position of the base. p.19 of ToD Home Back Next

  7. On the same page locate the position of the top within one of the spider tables. p.19 of ToD • The value in the blue circle is the value given to the top Home Back Next

  8. Combine the value given to the top and the value given to the base to calculate the total given for the skill. + 1 + 2 = 3 Home Back

Calculating the Value of a Trio 3” Hold • Locate the position of the base & middle • The value underneath the picture is the value given for the pyramid position • Take note of what group the pyramid is in, this can be found at the bottom of the page, this is dependent on the value of the base pyramid • Locate the position of the top using the spider table that has the correct point of support position. • The value within the grey bubble of the correct corresponding group is the value given to the top • Combine the value given to the base pyramid and the value given to the top to calculate the total value given for the skill.   11. Locate the position of the base & middle • The value underneath the picture is the value given for the pyramid position • Take note of what group the pyramid is in, this can be found at the bottom of the page p.64 of ToD This base pyramid is valued 8, therefore is a group 1. Home Back Next

The base pyramid is a group 1, therefore the top value is a 1. • Locate the position of the top using the spider table that has the correct point of support position. • The value within the grey bubble of the correct corresponding group is the value given to the top p.60 of ToD Home Back Next

  13. Combine the value given to the base pyramid and the value given to the top to calculate the total value given for the skill. + 8 + 1 = 9 Home Back

  14. Calculating the Value of a Top Motion (Pair) • Locate the start position of the top. Ensure this is on the same page that the base position can be found. • Follow the line along to the finishing position of the top • The bubble containing a value at the end of the motion line shows the value of the motion. DO NOT add the value of the base position. • NB: All motions must end in a 3” hold. Proceed to Example Home

  19. Calculating the Value of a Top Motion (Trio) • Locate the start position of the top. Ensure this is on the same page that the base point of support can be found. • Follow the line along to the finishing position of the top. • At the end of the line will be four bubbles, one for each group. The bubble that corresponds with group of the base position contains the value of the top motion. (For information on finding the group of the base position, refer to- ‘Value a Trio Balance Skill’) • NB: All motions must end in a 3” hold. Proceed to Example Home

  21. Locate the start position of the top. Ensure this is on the same page that the base point of support can be found. p.64 of ToD This indicates the point of the support on the base. Home Back Next

  23. At the end of the line will be four bubbles, one for each group. The bubble that corresponds with group of the base position contains the value of the top motion. This base position is a Group 1, therefore this top motion is a 3. p.60 of ToD Home Back Next

Calculating the Value of a Base Motion • Locate the first position of the base on the spider table • Follow the line along to the second position of the base • The bubble located at the end of the line indicates the value of the base motion. • If the value of the top is equal to or less than 5, the value of the motion is found in the white bubble. • If the value of the top is equal to or more than 6, the value of the motion is found in the grey bubble • The value of the top is also added to the value of the motion. Combine the value of the motion and the value of the top to calculate the total value of the motion • The base may also turn for additional value • NB: All motions must finish in a 3” hold. The bubble located at the end of the line indicates the value of the base motion. • If the value of the top is equal to or less than 5, the value of the motion is found in the white bubble. • If the value of the top is equal to or more than 6, the value of the motion is found in the grey bubble • This top position of this skill is valued a 3, therefore this base motion is a 1. p.19 of ToD Home Back Next

  29. The value of the top is also added to the value of the motion. Combine the value of the motion and the value of the top to calculate the total value of the motion + 1 + 2 = 3 Home Back Next

  30. The base may also turn for additional value This is simply added to the value of the motion Home Back

  31. Calculating the Value of a Dynamic Skill • Work out the following factors of the skills • Throwing position • Direction of the somersault (Front or back)) • Shape of the somersault (Tuck, pike or straight) • Amount of quarters of the somersault • Landing/catching position • Locate the picture of the starting position in the Table of Difficulty. Once this is found, ensure the page refers to the correct somersault direction. This can be found at the top left of the page. • Locate the finishing position of the skill in the pictures along the top of the page Home Back Next

Calculating the Value of a Dynamic Skill (cont) Follow this column down to find the section that refers to the amount of quarters of the skill Line this up with the shape the skill is being performed. The value in the corresponding box is the value given for the skill To add twisting to a skill, go to the table located at the bottom of the page. Line up the amount of quarters and the degrees of twists, the corresponding value is then added to the value of the somersault Home Back Next

  39. To add twisting to a skill, go to the table located at the bottom of the page. Line up the amount of quarters and the degrees of twists, the corresponding value is then added to the value of the somersault Degrees of Twist Amount of Quarters Home Back

  40. Calculate the value of twolinked dynamic skills • Turn to the ‘Additional Difficulty for Links’ table. This is located on p. 45 for pairs and p. 80 for trios. • In the first vertical column, locate the value of the first linked skill • In the first horizontal row, locate the value of the second linked skill • The value in the corresponding box is the value given for the link Home Next

  42. Calculate the value of an Individual element Select what sort of Individual element you would like to value. • Flexibility or Static & Strength • Agility • Tumbling Home

This will be located on pages 135-138 of the ToD • Underneath the picture will be a number, followed by the letter V, then another number • The V stands for ‘Value’.   45. Locate the picture of the individual element. This will be located on pages 135-138 of the ToD • Underneath the picture will be a number, followed by the letter V, then another number • The V stands for ‘Value’. The number following the V is the value of the skill p.137 of ToD Home Back
