DEFINE • State the purpose and scope of the project - what is the Problem Statement? • Identify the customers (internal and external) • List the CTQs for the project • What is the Customer’s Spec for that CTQ? Define Defects and Opportunities. Tools Used: (list and illustrate the tools used to complete this step) Customer Interview, Customer Needs Map, Customer Dashboards, etc.

  3. MEASURE • What is your measurement system? • How accurate is this measurement system? Is the data “good’? • What is the Current Process Performance (Baseline) - DPMO and COF? • What is the Performance Goal for this Project - target DPMO and COF? Tools Used: (list and illustrate the tools used to complete this step) Measurement Systems, Attribute GRR, Variable GRR

  4. ANALYZE • What are the Likely and Significant Root Causes of Current Process Defects? Tools Used: (list and illustrate the tools used to complete this step) Capability Analysis (Normal and Binomial), Benchmarking, Process Map, Cause and Effect (Brainstorm), FMEA, Pareto, Main Effects, Multi-Vari, Attribute Hypothesis Test (Chi Square), Correlation

  5. IMPROVE • What is the Improvement Plan to “Fix” these Key Factors? • What is the Process Capability of these Inputs to Stay “Fixed”? • Once fixed, what is the New Capability for Your CTQ? Tools Used: (list and illustrate the tools used to complete this step) Regression, Realistic Tolerancing, Capability Analysis (Normal and Binomial)

  6. CONTROL • What is the Plan to Keep the Process in Control? • What are the Actual Benefits (COF and others) ? Tools Used: (list and illustrate the tools used to complete this step) Documentation Systems, Mistake Proofing, Control Charting, SPC, Dashboards, System Enhancements
