What is an Employee Ideas Program….. • A tool to gather, analyse and implement ideas to create results that have a positive impact on the business. • Improves working environment, creates ownership and trust, builds teamwork and enhances communication between employees and management. • Doesn’t have to be new ideas, ideas that have be approached before but didn’t work may just work this time! • Should be a transparent process where everyone involved can easily track ideas

How is this aligned with the McCormick goals….. • Develops a culture for innovation in the workplace, enhances employee motivation and enthusiasm that leads to higher productivity and customer satisfaction • To engage the maximum number of people and consider the maximum number of ideas and make a judgement on which ideas to implement. • Aligned with McCormick EMEA 2015 Roadmap and High Performance Cultured Framework

What is needed to make the program happen….. • Buy-in from all senior management • Understand what the expectation is for employee contribution • Contribute CI with ideas, project participation, sustainability and discipline (perhaps include into performance evaluation) • Innovation Champion(s) from the factory floor and management team • Reward and recognition • For suggestions that are added to the project tracker (not just implemented ones) • Needs to be a culture change not just a tool / program • Support and commitment from all stakeholders

What is needed to make the program work….. • Promoting the program - media / communication • Using current channels if already effective • Visibility of suggested ideas and progress • Employee Idea program board • Clear objectives of the program • Clear roles, responsibilities and structure • Awareness of impact against other strategic activities • Included in job descriptions / performance measures of employees

  9. What will the ‘Employee Ideas Form’ look like….. The format of the form must encourage critical thinking and reflection – not just a complaint. Be easy to understand and quick to complete The submitter must put in some work, resulting in fewer submissions, but the ideas will likely be of higher quality.

What is the process….. • Complete and submit an ideas form • CI program team to update ideas tracker with a status • On-hold, require more detail, live etc • Scope idea and quantify benefits • CI program team to prioritise with other ideas on the tracker • CI program team to create a project charter and assign project team • Feedback both implemented and non implemented ideas • Using Employee Ideas Board

  13. How will the reward and recognition scheme work….. Reward and recognition will showcase the skills, talents and motivation of employees who go beyond the routine performance of their duties. • Monitored by the CI Steering Committee • Financial reward for every project completed through to implementation • Annual financial reward picked at random for any of the projects completed through to implementation • Communication of ideas created and implement using the Employee Ideas board • Updated on a monthly basis

Questions to be confirmed... • The program will be managed bythe CI team • What resources are available for the Program? • What are the roles and responsibilities of Managers, Team Leaders & Senior Ops • Built into OGSM’s? • How many incoming suggestions can we handle per week? • At what response time can we handle those suggestions? • What is the target number of implemented ideas within FY13?

What Information needs to be on the Employee Innovation notice board….. • Details on how to fill and submit the forms • Details of how ideas go through the decision process • What is the target number of implemented ideas within FY13 against YTD actual implemented ideas • Of those implemented, what were the benefits • Feedback of submitted ideas • Reward and recognition • FAQ’s
