  2. What is Tsukimi? Tsukimi is when we watch the moon. It takes place on the 13th day of the ninth month in the Lunisolar calendar in Japan. In Japan, as well as in China, we had a custom of admiring the full moon. In Japan, it is said to have started in the Joumon era(BC145c~BC10c). It is also said that a rabbit is living on the moon, since in Japan we see a crater that looks like a rabbit on the moon. However, in “Taketori-monogatari”, there is a part when the main character is scolded of watching the moon too much. So it is thought that at the same time, watching the moon had been detested.
