  2. 2018-19 KCTCS Action Plan Strategic Goal 1 Raise the level of educational attainment in the Commonwealth by positioning KCTCS as the accessible, affordable, and relevant postsecondary education choice for Kentuckians. Proposed Strategy Expand targeted outreach and support for adult learners to increase participation and success in postsecondary education.

  3. 2018-19 KCTCS Action Plan Strategic Goal 2 Increase access and success for all KCTCS students, particularly among traditionally underserved students. Proposed Strategy Increase the efficiency and effectiveness of admissions and enrollment processes at KCTCS colleges.

  4. 2018-19 KCTCS Action Plan Strategic Goal 3 Develop clear pathways through all levels of postsecondary education with an emphasis on experiential learning that lead to successful employment outcomes. Proposed Strategy Develop guided career pathways that include intrusive advising, block scheduling, and meta-majors.

  5. 2018-19 KCTCS Action Plan Strategic Goal 4 Improve student engagement, support, experiences, and success with best-in-class academic and student services. Proposed Strategy Leverage financial aid processes and Starfish Retention Solutions capabilities to increase retention and completion.

  6. 2018-19 KCTCS Action Plan Strategic Goal 5 Align programs and curricula with needs of employers that enhance the employability, job placement, and career development of KCTCS graduates. Proposed Strategy Increase the number of KCTCS students who complete career-oriented certificates in targeted industry sectors, and dual credit students who earn credits in these programs.

  7. Updates CPE Program Reviews • CPE has issued a one year moratorium on Program Reviews while a group is formed to “reframe” the process. • This means no one will have to complete CPE Program Reviews in Spring 2019.

Updates New SACSCOC Dual Enrollment Policy • “The academic rigor of such coursework matches the quality of other institutional coursework, regardless of location or mode of delivery.” • “…institutions being reviewed should also be prepared to demonstrate clear institutional control over these dual enrollment courses and programs.” • “Institutions may not offer courses which combine students enrolled in the college course with students who are only receiving high school credit.” • Per SACSCOC, implementation delayed until Fall ‘19 • “The faculty assumes primary responsibility for dual enrollment courses. Such oversight ensures both the rigor of programs/courses and the quality of instruction.”

  9. 2018-19 System Wide Key Initiatives • 15 to Finish Scholarship Program. • Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship Program. • ON RAMP/SkillsU Partnership. • Authentic Identity and New Branding.

  10. 15 to Finish Scholarship • New scholarship to encourage students to take 15 credit hours a semester. • Data reveals that more hours equate to higher student success. • Scholarship will provide students with a $500 scholarship once they complete a 15 hour semester and re-enroll for another 15 hours the following semester. • Targeted audience: Students pursuing an associate degree and currently taking 12 – 14.9 hours.

  11. 15 to Finish Scholarship • To apply a student will… • Enroll in 15 hours that apply to their degree. • Check at the bottom of the Launch panel of their student self-service page within PeopleSoft. • All interested students are encouraged to meet with their advisor.

Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship Program • 2018-19 program expanded to include: • AAS degrees. • Dual-credit students.* • Program provides free tuition for occupational programs in five industry sectors: • Healthcare. • Advanced Manufacturing. • Transportation/Logistics. • Business Services/IT. • Construction Trades. * Application is through high schools and KHEAA and is available to all dual credit CTE courses

  13. Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship Program • Students can also receive up to $400/academic year to pay fees (online course fees, lab fees, and administrative fees). Scholarship does not cover instructional materials (books, etc.). • Perfect program for adults looking for a jumpstart to a new, better-paying career. • For more information, go to workreadykentucky.com

  14. Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship Program Students eligibility is until the first of these events occur: • Receipt of the scholarship for four postsecondary academic terms; or • Receipt of the scholarship for 60 credit hours; or • Award of first associate’s degree.

On Ramp – Skills U Partnership • The primary focus of our adult initiative this year is a partnership with Skills U (formerly Kentucky Adult Education) to jointly market, recruit, enroll and train adult learners. • Approximately 350,000 Kentucky adults do not have a high school degree or GED. • Many of these individuals do not have the skills or knowledge needed to fill the over 200,000 job openings in the state.

  17. On Ramp – Skills U Partnership • This joint collaboration primarily targets GED seeking students and puts them on quick path to a new career by letting them get both a GED and a free (Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship) college credential at the same time.

  18. On Ramp – Skills U Partnership • Traditional higher education roadblocks are gone. Roadblocks such as financial aid (Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship Program)and lack of time (students get to do two things at once). • Provides students with a quick win-win and shows them that they can succeed in college. They’ve Got This!

Authentic Identity OUR BRAND PROMISE The 16 colleges of the Kentucky Community and Technical College System are united in our commitment to making life better for our students, communities and the citizens of Kentucky. Last year we launched our new authentic identity and brand promise. Centering Idea: A Better Life Our Four Pillars: • Focused Workforce Education and Readiness. • Invested in the Success of Every Student. • Encouraging and Approachable Learning Environment. • Engaged in the Life of Our Communities.

  20. Authentic Identity In 2018-19 we will focus on communicating the new identity. • New branding/logo. • New websites. • New messaging. • New marketing materials.

Authentic Identity Be a Guardian of our College Brand by: • Read the brand guide… www.brand.kctcs.edu • Contact your marketing department if you have materials that need the new logo. • Change your email signature to include the new logo and one of the new messages. • Follow the new brand guide when creating any external communication materials. • Proudly wear and display our blue and gold superhero colors and bumper sticker. • Be a college ambassador and spread the word.
