  1. Enoch The Man Who Escaped Death

  2. Enoch Walked with God • Two OT persons are said to have “walked with God” – Enoch (Gen. 5:21-24) and Noah (Gen. 6:9) • Two OT persons are said to have been taken directly to heaven without dying – Enoch (Heb. 11:5) and Elijah (2 Kings 2:3-11) • Enoch lived the shortest life of the antediluvian world, only 365 years! It is not how long you live; it is how you live, that counts.

  3. Genesis 5 • Genesis 5 is a diary of death – “and he died” • Will you be the same as millions of people: born, lived, died? • Enoch broke the mold; he was unique; he walked with God when others did not • Consider 5 lessons from Enoch: communion, consistency, contentment, commitment, communication

  4. Communion • Enoch “walked with God” (Gen. 5:22,24) • Agreement, unity, and fellowship with God (Amos 3:3) • Intimate companionship, peace and reconciliation with God (Mal. 2:6; 2 Cor. 5:20) • Consciousness of God’s presence, security, safety, and blessing (Acts 17:27-28)

  5. Consistency • Enoch “walked with God three hundred years…” (Gen. 5:22,24) • Enoch was devoted to God over a long period; not a sprint, but a marathon • Proportionally, he was devoted 82% of his life = 15 year old obeys the gospel and lives faithfully for 65 years until 80 years old

  6. Contentment • Enoch walked with God because he wanted to be well-pleasing to God (Heb. 11:5) • Enoch was satisfied and happy to please God, not man (Jn. 8:29; Gal. 1:10)

  7. Commitment • Enoch walked with God in an ungodly world (Jude 14-15) • Enoch was devoted to God in the midst of wickedness; a godly parent setting the right example for his son (Gen. 6:5; Acts 2:41; Phil. 2:15)

  8. Communication • Enoch walked with God in an ungodly world and spoke out against it (Jude 14-15) • Enoch not only avoided wickedness, but he also spoke out against it (Eph. 5:11; 1 Tim. 5:20; 2 Tim. 4:2)

  9. Enoch: The Man Who Escaped Death Because Enoch refuse to live the rest, God made sure that he didn’t die like the rest!
