  19. Some Additional Words of Advice & Resources: Ask before dropping a class – if you fall below full time, you lose eligibility, if affects your financial aid, it leads to possible game forfeitures You must complete 12 credit hours in the fall with a minimum of 2.00 gpa. Starfish – a program that you can find in your Bobcat Portal that faculty can input your attendance, grades, etc. Many faculty will send Starfish alerts that go via email to you, your advisor, the Athletics Director, the Faculty Athletics Representative, and your COACH. Check your STU email regularly – all STU correspondence is through email. Course cancellations may be through email; you don’t check, the course gets canceled, and you may end up less than full time and no longer eligible. Please control your language – we are a family oriented Catholic University and trying to teach self control, respect and discipline.

  20. Our GOAL each year is for all of our sports teams to earn the right to be nominated as an NAIA Scholar Team. • Last year (2018-19) 13 of our 14 varsity teams were NAIA Scholar Teams. One More Thing: Scholar Teams

  21. To Calculate the average GPA – we will compile all of the credit hours and gpa quality points from the terms in the Fall’19 and Spring’20 semesters for each sport and calculate the average GPA for the entire team. • If the calculation renders a 3.0 or higher average GPA, that team will be nominated to be named an NAIA Scholar Team. • Do you have what it takes to be a Scholar TEAM player? • To be a scholar TEAM, you need to be a life preserver, not an anchor. • Be the student-athlete that pulls your team up, not down – that helps, not hurts the team academically. • Doing this could just end with you getting a degree, i.e., your goal. What is a ScholarTeam?

  22. What we see: What it may say about you: Academics don’t come easy – need to work harder to get results May not do well on standardized tests but works really hard in the classroom Have a gift but are not applying yourself Scholar student-athlete – whether it comes easily or you work hard, you’re dedicated to your academics • Lower test scores & Lower GPA • Lower test scores w/ higher GPA • Higher Test Scores w/ lower GPA • Higher Test Scores & Higher GPA SAT/ACT Scores vs GPA
