  8. CLCW Who processes CLCW claims? Answer: Louisville Regional Office processes CLCW with < 30 days at Camp Lejeune and/or when the Veteran claims a non-presumptive condition. All Regional Offices adjudicate CLCW claims for presumptive conditions for Veterans with 30 days or more at Camp Lejeune.

CLCW If a veteran was exposed to contaminated drinking water at Camp Lejeune, the following diseases shall be service-connected if the requirements of §3.307(a)(7) are met: • Kidney Cancer • Liver Cancer • Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma • Adult Leukemia • Multiple Myeloma • Parkinson’s Disease • Bladder Cancer • Aplastic Anemia and other Myelodysplastic Syndromes

CLCW Camp Lejeune Contaminated Water Effective March 14, 2017, eight presumptive diseases were added to 38 CFR 3.309(f), for • service members, former reservists, National Guard members on official orders , who served • 30 days (consecutive or nonconsecutive) at Camp Lejeune, between • August 1, 1953 to December 31, 1987 (known as contamination period). Specifically allows former reservists and National Guard members to establish veteran status by presuming that a covered disease was incurred in the line of duty. Amendment to 38 CFR 3.307(a)(7)

Exams Examinations Requesting Examinations for NSC conditions A medical opinion or examination is necessary when there is not sufficient medical evidence of record to make a decision on the claim, and • there is competent lay or medical evidence of a current diagnosed disability or persistent or recurrent symptoms of disability  • the evidence establishes that the Veteran • suffered an event, injury, or disease in service, or • has a disease or symptoms of a disease listed in 38 CFR 3.309, 38 CFR 3.313, 38 CFR 3.316, or 38 CFR 3.317 manifesting during an applicable presumptive period, and • the evidence indicates that the claimed disability or symptoms may be associated with the established event, injury, or disease in service or with another service-connected (SC) disability.  

  13. Dependency Claims What forms should I use to add dependents? • Spouse VA Form 21-686c • Minor Child USE VA Form 21-686c • School Child VA Form 21-674 What do I need to do to remove dependents? Contact VA and report, date of event (death, divorce, or termination of school attendance) Methods: Phone, 21-4138, eBenefits portal ** Timely reporting of dependency changes eliminates potential overpayments/underpayments of benefits.
