  2. What is anequation? When you place an equal sign between 2 expressions, you form an equation There is a left side and a right side to each equation

  4. Solutions If you plug in a number to a variable and it makes the equation TRUE, that number is a solution

  5. Are 3 or 4 solutions of the following equation? 2x – 4 = 4 We need to check each one…

  6. 2x – 4 = 4 2 (3) – 4 = 4 6 – 4 = 4 2 = 4 2x – 4 = 4 2 (4) – 4 = 4 8 – 4 = 4 4 = 4 YES!!

  10. LAST ONE! 2x – 1 = -6 + x 2 (-2) – 1 = -6 + (-2) -4 – 1 = -6 + -2 -5 = -8

  19. Twice a number is added to the number and the answer is 80. Write an equation to find the number.

  21. Aaliyah has a stick that is 34 meters long. She is going to cut it into two pieces. One piece should be 8 meters longer than the other. Write an equation to figure out how long the shorter piece should be.

  22. y + (y + 8) = 34

  23. The perimeter of a triangular lot is 81 meters. One side is 16 meters, and the other side is twice the first side. Write an equation to find the length of the third side.
