  2. EQ • Can I identify the correct spelling of Plurals & Possessives? (0.601.1.10)

  3. Spelling Plurals Dos & Don’ts • DON’T assume that you have to add ‘s’ • DO add ‘es’ after ‘ch’, ‘sh’, and ‘x’. • DO change ‘f’ to ‘v’ (Ex: knives,)

  4. Possessives Dos & Don’ts • DO put a apostrophe after a plural noun. (Ex: Singers’ voices, cousins’ books) • DO put ‘s after singular nouns. (Ex: Haiden’s, Bob’s) • DON’T put ‘s after plural word. • SOMETIMES put ‘s after names that end in ‘s’. (Ex: Iris’/Iris’s) • DON’T simply add ‘s’.

  5. Practice Activity (Plurals) • Number your white board 1-5. Determine whether or not the spelling of these plural words is correct. If they’re incorrect, write the correct spelling. Flip over your board when you’re done. • Oxes • Mooses • Deer • Foxes • Mouses

  7. Practice Activity: (Possessives) Number your board 1-5. Identify whether the spelling is correct or incorrect. If it’s incorrect, write the correct spelling. Flip your board over when you are done. • Flutists’ talent • Haiden’s stuff • Iris’ journal • The siblings’s argument • Joys hair bow
