  2. Moderator Control Panel Moderators have the same functionality in the forum as the students with additional permissions giving them control over what is posted by the students. When you log in to the forum you will be presented with an extra link button, “Moderator Control Panel”. Clicking on the, “Moderator Control Panel”, button opens the control panel and presents a menu providing options under which there are additional tabs. However, these tabs are not static, they vary depending on whether you enter the control panel using the button or enter from a post.

  3. Control Panel Menu Under Main, the tab, “Front page”, provides a summary of pending moderation actions when entered using the, “Moderator Control Panel”, button. When entered using the, “Information”, button in a post, three additional tabs are displayed providing information about the post’s containing forum, topic and the post. The, “Moderation queue”, contains pending approvals not relevant in this forum. “Reported messages”, alerts moderators to posts that are being reported by users for having inappropriate content. Under, “User notes”, user actions and notes are stored and you can add user notes . “Warnings”, is used to warn users who are not obeying the rules and record s the warnings, also accessible from a post by using the, “Warn user” button. “Moderator logs”, provides a log of the moderators activities. “Banning”, provides banning options for users who have been warned. The user can be banned either permanently or for a period of time. Also spammers and hackers IP’s and/or email addresses can be banned.

  5. Moderating in the Chat Room Click on the, “Help”, button to list the options available. Simply type the option for the action you wish to take. If a student reports being bullied or abused in a chat room or a private chat room obtain the date and approximate time of the alleged offence and report it to an Administrator. Administrators have access to the chat logs. If an offence has occurred then appropriate action can be taken giving due regard to the logged evidence.
