  2. Step 1: Character Creation Create a character using the following criteria… • Name • Age • Job/What they do • 3 Words to describe personality • Catch Phrase • A dream come true

EXAMPLE #1 Name: Jean Paul LeChemin Age: 34 Job/What he/she does: Dance Instructor (specializing in sexy dance like Lambada, salsa and tango) 3 Words to describe personality: Forward, Lustful (that’s horny in fancy talk) and lonely Catch Phrase: “Hello, Lovely Lady” A dream come true: Trapped on a deserted island with the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders

Example #2 Name: Bruce Kline Age: 88 Job/What he/she does: Retired assembly line worker at the Ford Plant in Oakville 3 Words to describe personality: Angry, Distrustful and Loyal Catch Phrase: “You know whose fault that is? The immigrants!” A dream come true: He could young and back overseas during World War II, playing cards with his buddies between battles.

  5. Create Yours…Go!!

  6. Now you are going to combine your character with others and write them into a short play. Here are some guidelines to your play: • Chose from the following settings • An elevator • A dance club • A shoe store 2. Your play should contain ALL 3 of the following lines of dialogue • “What’s that?” • “Okay, but you go first.” • “That’s that (best/worst/stupidest) idea I’ve ever heard.”

  7. Remember, a good story… • …reveals character by showing, not telling • …contains some kind of conflict • …shows consistent character behavior • …has a cat in it somewhere. Good Luck
