  5. Teams • Group of 140 students with same core teachers • 9 teams • 4 teams for 7th grade • 4 teams for 8th grade • 1 combo 7/8 CATS team • Team name • Examples: Youtubers, Savage Patch Kids, Dedicated Dorys • Competitions and T-Shirts

  7. 3rd Period 3rd period is different because we have 3 lunches. Each lunch is about 32 minutes long. Lunch depends on your 3rd period teacher.

  8. SSR and AR • Sustained Silent Reading • 20 minutes everyday • 5th period teacher or Social Studies teacher • If not meeting AR goals, may be placed in small group reading with an elective teacher • AR Goals are determined each quarter and are a big part of ELA grade

  9. Accelerated Reader • 20 minutes reading during SSR • 25 minutes of reading at home each night • AR books are worth points • Have a goal each quarter based on STAR score and LA teacher • AR IS FOR A GRADE!!!!! • no AR quiz, no grade

  10. Full Year Long Electives • PE • Foreign Language (Spanish, Mandarin) • Music Classes (Band, Percussion, Orchestra, Choir) • Theater Workshop • Creative Writing (Honors ELA Req’d)

  11. Semester Long Electives • General Art • Three Dimensional Art • Project Lead the Way • Drama/Oral Expression • Computer Applications • Beginning Photography

  12. PE - Uniforms- $20 • Report to Boys or Girls Locker Room to dress out • Assigned a locker to keep backpack and clothes

  20. Agendas Every class on campus uses them to record homework Blacklines or stamps for missing assignment DO not have to be signed by parents- UNLESS the team decides you need it

  21. Homework • About an hour and a half per day • Homework will be a part of your grade • Teachers want you to try – it’s okay if you get the wrong answer

  22. Self-Advocacy This means you need to speak up when you • Don’t understand • when you have a question • when you need help If you don’t speak up, we don’t know you need help.

  23. Tutoring • Each Core teacher will have a day of tutoring each week • 4:00-4:45 Monday through Thursday • Late Bus
