St. Anthony Santo António • Born on 15/08/1195 in Lisbon, and died on 06/13/1231 in Padua. • This day is a municipal holiday in Lisbon, celebrated on June 13. • St. Anthony is known as the matchmaker. • The city's festivities are marked by popular marches, weddings de St. Anthony, with the celebration of different marriages together. • St. Anthony is celebrated in the streets of Lisbon, gracing the homes and historic neighborhoods with flying colors and placing the basil in windows. • Tradition says that on the day of St. Anthony, to eat sardines and green soup.

St. John • São João • In Portugal, the Day of Saint John is celebrated in several localities in Portugal, but the bigger is in Porto, where the 24th of June is a municipal holiday. • The basil is a symbol of the party, as well as the colorful plastic hammers, used by people to knock (gently) on the heads of others. • The hot air balloons made ​​of paper are other attractions that illuminate the skies on the night. • In gastronomy, festivities are only complete with sardines, bread, green soup, pepper and wine. • The festival focuses on the historic Porto, with thousands of people walking the streets and seeing the fireworks launched by the river Douro, on the shores of Porto and Vila Nova de Gaia.

FOLK SAINTS IN APPC • Santos Populares na APPC • Started in 2011 to celebrate the popular saints in the APPC with a great feast called “Arraial”. • As our neighborhood is St. Peter celebrated the popular saint on the eve of June 29th! • Joined clients, families, employees and partners of the institution in open day to all the local community. • Fun and joy are assure, as well sardines, sweet basil and good sangria! • Joins the dance is also a small fair of products made by our learners and cast lots to several raffles. • Every year we had over 300 people to party with us!
