  2. BartholomäusBruyn (1493–1555) • BartholomausBruyn usually called BarthelBruyn the Elder, was a German Renaissance painter. He created his work in Colongne. He was the most promenint painter in Colongne in the 16th century. • He was noted for his portraits, they are described as lively and expressive. • His paintings are usually portrayed at half length and the face in the center. Great detail are given to the hands and the costume. • He had a habit like many other painters, and he did not sign his paintings, some of his work was believed to be the work of Hans Holbein.
