  5. Asterix: Obelix • Asterix’s best friend/sidekick • He is addicted to boar • Always ready to fight

  6. Asterix: Vitalstitistix • Chief of the village • Afraid that the sky is going to fall

  8. Rodolphe Topffer • Due to an eye disorder he was unable to initially pursue the visual arts • Devotion to literature and wrote short texts • 'My Uncle's Library’ • 'Nouvelles genevoises’ • 'Voyages en zig-zag'

  9. Rodolphe Topffer • Studied in Paris and became a teacher • Founded a boarding school in 1825 • “Topffer has earned most fame for his ‘histoires en images’, picture-stories which are considered the first in the comics genre”

  13. About the Comic • Protagonists are Philip Mortimer and his Friend Captain Francis Blake • Antagonist is their sworn enemy Colonel Olrik • “Their confrontations take them into the realms of detective investgation and science-fiction. dealing with such themes as time travel.”
