  2. Each year in the United States, 2 million people suffer a traumatic brain injury, or TBI. 

  3. Deaths in TBI cases • Between 70,000 and 90,000 of these individuals are left with significant and irreversible impairments. • Approximately 20,000 people die from TBI each year. 

  4. Age Distribution of TBI Cases • Males between the ages of 15 and 34 are most likely to suffer TBI. • People over the age of 75 also comprise a large group of TBI patients. • Leading cause of disability in children and young adults.
