  6. 6th Grade Schedule at a Glance 8 Period Day: 7 classes + 1 lunch period • 1 Math Course • 1 Reading Course • 1 Writing Course • Focus on writing in both the ELA setting and other Core Areas • Science • Social Studies • 2 Related Arts Courses – Phys. Ed., Fine Arts (Piano, Strings, Art, Chorus, Band, Musical Theater, Guitar, Dance), Foreign Language Studies, Gateway to Technology, Family & Consumer Science • Lunch Period

Student Involvement • Academic Teams • Quest, Math Counts (OMS is the 2013 Lowcountry Champion), Spelling Bee, Geo Bee, Quiz Bowl, Math is Cool Competition, Robotics, etc. • Athletic Teams (7th and 8th grade) – football, volleyball, basketball, wrestling, baseball, and softball • Variety of clubs and other teams • SOAR Recognition – Cards, Awards, Bucks, Privileges, Gold ID’s

Dates to Remember Finish Well! • PASS Testing for 2013 – 3/19, 20; 5/7, 8, 9, 10 Get Ready for Next Year: • Rising 6th Grade Camp – TBA; Information will be sent to our feeder elementary schools • Facts and Fees – First full week of August (times and dates not set yet) • First Day of School 2013 – August 19, 2013
