  2. History The current Basilica was built to replace The old one that was ruined by a fire on March 29, 1922.

  3. Architecture • Built by Mr. MaximeRoisin of Paris and Mr. Louis N. Audet of Sherbrooke. • Construction began July 6, 1923 and parts of it are still not complete. • Constructed in the form of a Latin cross. • Neo-Romanesque in stlye. • Granite came from the quarry at Saint-Sébastien, in Beauce, QC.

  4. Mosaics All mosaics are dedicated to St. Anne, the grandmother of Jesus. The mosaics are the work of Mr. AugusteLabouret.

  5. Other Art Stained-glass Windows Sculptures • There are 240 stained-glass windows • Mr. Émile Brunet built the stone statues and Mr. Franz Moroder built the wooden ones.

  6. The Bells • There are 9 bells at St. Anne de Beaupré. • 6 were installed in the south tower. • The 3 heaviest bells were installed in the north tower. • Their total weight is 43,087 pounds. • The names of the bells are: • Angelica – sol • Jesus – la • Mary – ti • Anne – do • Joachim – re • Joseph – mi • John the Baptist – fa • Alphonsus– sol • Patrick- la
