Tests that are a Must!A quick Timeline • PSAT  Wednesday, October 15, 2014 • Only those students who registered will test. • National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (NMSQT) • National Hispanic Recognition Program • SAT  should be taken by all juniors in the Spring • Reasoning • Given by CollegeBoard: www.collegeboard.com • ACT  should be taken by all juniors in the Spring • Knowledge • Given by ACT: www.act.org • SAT v. ACT: Try both! • You may be surprised by which test you do best in.

  4. Honors/Gifted/AP: Grading Scales Note: Under the new calculation, GPAs will show lower than previous years but closer to what colleges arrive at when THEY calculate GPAs.

Bright Futures & Other Scholarship criteria • Based on GPA of core classes • 4 each English, Mathematics, • 3 each Science, Social Science • 2 World Languages + Addt’l Core Classes • SAT/ACT scores • Community Service: 100 hours • Scholarships • mostly Senior Year, exceptthose for summer programs
