Research and Institutional Activities: • SAS-MTR – Mid-term Review of the Syrian Agriculture Strategy, due by Oct. 2005. • Thematic studies • Non-Agricultural Activities in Rural Areas and their Impact on Agriculture, start at Nov. 2005.   3. Activities Carried Out • Finalization of the FSS individual reports; • Evaluation of internet resources for research purposes; • Preparation of the final drafts of the review papers; • Four internal seminars on the review papers’ issues presented in March 2005. By Firas Yassin

Current Activities • SAS-MTR : the mid-term review of the Syrian Agriculture Strategy; • Completion and finalization of the review papers; • Preparation of a national workshop, Nov. - Dec. 2005: preliminary discussion of the SAS-MTR; • Publication of the water study; • Drafting the policy briefs. Pending & DelaysReasons and Constraints • SAS-MTR: • difficulties in collecting the sufficient data (quantitative and qualitative) • inefficient connection with the related institutions • Working papers, lack of studies and data related to Syrian context for the most topics; • RDD Time Availability: the part-time work of some members.
