  5. Sacrifices of the Old Testament • The Sin Offering. Lev 6:24-30 • Atonement could be made. • The sinner was to lay his hand on the offering and kill the sacrifice. • The sinner was also to confess his sin. Lev 5:5,6 • The sprinkling of blood. • The pouring of blood.

  6. Sacrifices of the Old Testament • What was the purpose of these offerings, these sacrifices made to the Lord? They served as a shadow of better things to come. • Col 2:17 • Heb 8:5 • Heb 10:1

  7. Jesus, The Lamb Offered For Our Sins • John said regarding Jesus, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” John 1:29,36 • Jesus Christ was our Passover. • 1 Cor 5:7

  8. Jesus was without blemish. 1 Pet 1:19 Blood procured salvation & deliver-ance. 1 Pet 1:18,19 Not a bone was broken. John 19:36 To partake of Christ without leaven of malice and hypo-crisy. 1 Cor 5:7,8 Jesus, The Lamb Offered For Our Sins • Without blemish. Exo 12:5 • Blood procured salvation & deliver-ance.   9. Jesus, The Lamb Offered For Our Sins • Jesus blood was shed for mankind. • We are brought near by the blood of Jesus. Eph 2:13 • Jesus' blood was shed for the remission of sins. 1 Pet 1:2 • Jesus' blood cleanses us from our sins. 1 John 1:7; Heb 9:14 • Jesus washed us in His own blood. Rev 1:5

  10. Jesus was Pictured as a Conquering Lamb • John saw a “Lamb standing, as though it had been slain, with seven horns and with seven eyes,” which were the “seven spirits of God sent out into all the earth.” Rev 5:6-14

  11. Jesus was Pictured as a Conquering Lamb • Lamb that was slain . . . • “Lamb” that was slain was Jesus. • Seven horns points to His full power or all authority. cf. Matt 28:18 • Seven eyes indicates His omniscience. Cf. Heb 4:13 • Seven spirits – the complete work of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. cf. John 17:20-21; 16:13; 15:26

  12. Jesus was Pictured as a Conquering Lamb • Jesus, the Lamb of God, is worthy of our praise. Rev 5:9-10 • Saints reign with Christ. • John was in the kingdom. Rev 1:9 • Paul was in the kingdom. Col 1:13,14 • Christians are part of this royal priesthood. 1 Pet 2:5,9

  13. Conclusion • Truly Jesus is the Lamb of God. • The Passover and sin-offerings were a shadow of Jesus Christ. • Jesus Christ was the Lamb offered for our sins, shedding His blood so that we might be clean. • Jesus Christ is the conquering Lamb reigning over His kingdom.
