    12. Bat’s Ear (protruding ear) Bat ears are the commonest abnormalities of the auricle and are usually bilateral. It is due to absence of antihelex.

Haematoma Auris It is collection of blood between the perichondrium and the cartilage due to trauma Treatment : by aspiration or incision and drainage, followed by pressure bandage and antibiotic coverage to avoid cartilage necrosis and scarring which may lead to auricular deformity (cauliflower ear )

    21. Otitis Externa TREATMENT: It is essential in all cases to remove all debris & discharge from the ear canal. WHY?

    22. Otitis Externa TREATMENT: CAUSES OF FAILURE: The chief cause of failure is the omission of thorough aural cleansing. In fact many cases could be cured by cleansing alone and without resorting to the use of dressings, drops, powders and paints. How can drops effect a cure when they poured day after day into meatal canals stuffed with debris?

    34. Ear - Syringing Attention must be paid to the following points: 1) History: has the patient had a discharging ear? If any possibility of a dry perforation ,do not syringe. 2) Inspection: If wax seems very hard always soften by using wax-softening agents. 3) Temperature of water used for syringing should be body temp.Any departure of few degrees may leads to vertigo. 4) Inspection : After removal of wax ,inspect thoroughly to make sure none remains .This advice might seem superfecial but is frequently ignored. 5) Drying any excess solution from meatal canal .Stagnation predisposes to otitis externa.
