Some Lessons Learned (Romans 15:4) • David’s life foreshadows the Christian’s race that Paul described in 1 Corinthians 9:24 – 27. • David’s life illustrates how: • Faithfulness ≠ Perfection (only Jesus met this standard); • Trust in God; not in men. • Lust and pride can lead to sin (James 1: 12 -16); • Confessing the sin and turning from the attitude and behavior that caused it restores the relationship with God; • Still, there is a consequence of sin that must be endured, even with the act of repentance; • God is merciful, fair, and just; when the totality of David’s life was evaluated by Him, David found favor (Acts 2); • David should be appreciated for his role in the plan of salvation as Peter articulated on the Day of Pentecost (Acts 2); • On average, the Christian race is a marathon, not a sprint.
