THE HEALTH SECRETARIAT AND PTAT • In 1994 Citizenship and Immigration Canada (CIC) requested medical reports • With the objective of assessing if the health of the worker is optimal for agricultural work • The primary reason was that the incidence of tuberculosis is higher in Mexico than in Canada (14 out of every 100,000 persons in Mexico and 4 out of every 100,000 persons in Canada) • In that same year, the Health Secretariat began preparing medical reports through the Health Services of the Federal District

  12. New Medical Examination Format • A new medical examination format has been developed. The format will be applied in the same hospitals that have previously performed examinations and includes the following information: • General information • Somatometry • Hereditary and family background • Personal non-pathological background • Reproductive health • Oral health • Personal pathological background • Physical examination: eye health • General physical examination • Muscle and bone health • Laboratory and office (basic) • Diagnostic and current therapeutics

National Health Card Characteristics • A tool to record actions of the Basic Package of Integrated Promotion and Prevention Services for Better Health • Free of charge • One card for each person, by age and gender • Includes a section on “Medical Care” • Contents are updated in accordance with national and international health regulations • Available at all the institutions of the National Health System

National Health Card for Women aged 20-59 Years General Information • Promoting Health: Guidance-Counselling • Nutrition: Assessment and surveillance of nutritional status, body mass index, nutrition, nutritional supplements • Vaccination Scheme: SR, Td and other vaccines • Disease Prevention and Control: HIV/AIDS and STIs, addictions, pulmonar tuberculosis, oral health • Disease Detection: Breast and cervical cancer, Diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, pulmonar tuberculosis, dyslipidemia, and lipid profile • Sexual and Reproductive Health: Promoting and supplying contraceptive methods, antenatal care and birth assistance, post-partum care, climacterium and menopause surveillance • Accident and Injury Prevention: Information and guidance • Addiction Prevention: Guidance-Counselling and other actions • Medical Care

National Health Card for Men aged 20-59 Years General Information • Promoting Health: Guidance-Counselling • Nutrition: Assessment and surveillance of nutritional status and body mass index • Vaccination Scheme: SR, Td and other vaccines • Disease Prevention and Control: HIV/AIDS and STIs, addictions, pulmonar tuberculosis, oral health • Disease Detection: Diabetes mellitus, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, pulmonar tuberculosis, dyslipidemia, and lipid profile • Sexual and Reproductive Health: Sexual and reproductive rights, promoting and supplying contraceptive methods • Accident and Injury Prevention: Information and guidance • Addiction Prevention: Guidance-Counselling and other actions • Medical Care

HEALTH INSURANCE FOR WORKERS AND THEIR FAMILIES To enable persons who are not entitled to any social security system (IMSS, ISSSTE, PEMEX, etc.) to have access to medical care, surgery, pharmacies, and hospital services. The Popular Insurance is a part of the social health protection system The Federal Government and federative institutions seek to achieve universality of services, with a coverage of 100% of the population that does not have access to medical care Changes to family quota have recently been made: Families or Individuals Deciles I - V DO NOT PAY 99.43%
