  2. Aims of our project: • Decrease litter wastage in our school • Decrease paper wastage in our school • Make compost for a Spring garden 2013

  3. Curriculum Involvement:

  4. Numeracy • We carried out a survey on the litter found in the playground, categorised it and completed a bar chart on this and composed opened and closed questioning based on the information recorded. • We compared the quantity of litter collected at the start of the project to the amount of litter collected near the end of the project.

  5. Literacy • Recycling poetry • Factual statements • Talking, listening and presentation skills • Selecting core information from a given text • Direct Speech – Factual Comic work and role play activities • Power Point • Litter words – included in weekly spellings

  6. ICT • Researching facts online • Power point • Microsoft word • Recycling and Litter online games • Presentation skills – copy and paste images from internet • Black cat programme for Data Handling

  7. WAU • Environmental issues • Rubbish in our School Environment • The effect of Pollution in our World – land dangers and animal habitats • The need to recycle – benefits • Decomposition – Composting • Famous world disasters – oil spillages, nuclear power stations

  8. Structured Play and Art • Children have an element of 'junk art' in most structured play planned sessions. Children bring in clean rubbish from home then they use their creative little minds to make something related to our topic for that half term. • At Christmas we made Christmas cards using old cut up Christmas Cards. We also brought in jam-jars and used glass pens to decorate them. This made a lovely Christmas lantern

  9. Practical work: • Structured Play • Litter picking • Sorting Criteria • Collecting waste for Compost bin • Working as a group to present ideas
