National VET E-Learning Strategy • Goal 1: Develop and utilise e-learning strategies to maximise the benefits of the national investment in broadband. • Goal 2: Support workforce development in industry through innovative training solutions. • Goal 3: Expand participation and access for individuals through targeted e-learning approaches.   6. Our Project: Collaborative E-Assessment • The project involves 3 levels of learning: 1. Team Development Skills 3. Peer Assessment 2. Using Online Technology ASC Training & Development

Team development skills • The project will explore ways to work effectively with a work team in the retail pharmacy environment • The content is based on a unit of competency from the Business Services Training Package: • BSBWOR402A Promote team effectiveness • This is a unit from the qualification Certificate IV in Frontline Management ASC Training & Development

  8. Course Outline • Clarifying work roles • Engaging the team in business development • Managing conflict • Building effective team communication • Team leaders as role models ASC Training & Development

  9. 2. Using Online Technology We use an online platform called Moodle. Moodle is used by many schools and universities in Australia and globally. ASC Training & Development

  11. Online tools Once logged into our Moodle site, you can participate in: • Discussion forums • Wikis (online journals) • Moodle Workshop (a peer review module) • Document upload (reports, reflections, evaluations) We will guide you through all these activities ASC Training & Development

Peer Assessment • In formal education learning is assessed through tests, projects, assignments, etc. • The teacher or lecturer marks the work, making the final decision • Assessment of work by fellow classmates or participants is rarely used to make the ‘final decision’. Peer Assessment • This project will guide you through the steps to make judgements on the work of your colleagues • Your judgements combined with a review by a panel of assessors from the Project Team and the Pharmacy Guild will form the final assessment decision • All participants assessed as competent will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment ASC Training & Development

  14. Project Methodology • A target group of 15 Pharmacists have been recruited with the assistance of the Pharmacy Guild (SA) to undertake the learning program ASC Training & Development

  15. Project Methodology • Delivery will comprise 2 x ½ day workshops (face-face) • The workshops will be spaced 3 – 4 weeks apart • We will give you input into preferred dates. Online activities will commence prior to the first workshop (to introduce you to the online tools). ASC Training & Development

  16. Project Methodology • You will be placed into Learning Groups of 3 - 4 to review each others work and act as peer assessors throughout the project. • Some activities will involve all participants, some the Learning Group only. ASC Training & Development

  17. Assessment Methodology • 4 Assessment tasks are to be undertaken • Task 1 • Discussion forum on the purpose and value of Position Descriptions • Posting of a completed Position Description online • Review PD with one team member and post Wiki ASC Training & Development

Assessment Methodology • Task 2 • Identify an area of conflict e.g. between team members at work • Design a strategy to manage this and post for discussion with Learning Group • Put (modified) strategy into action and report outcomes • (In the absence of a workplace conflict, a case study will be provided) ASC Training & Development

Assessment Methodology • Task 3 – Team Improvement Project • Whole group to develop team climate survey in first face–face workshop • Survey work team back in Pharmacy and collate results • Identify area for improvement and post action plan in Moodle Workshop 1 • Peers in Learning Group review and post comment, based on agreed criteria ASC Training & Development

  21. Assessment Methodology • Task 4 • Write a short overview of the importance of leaders as role models and reflect on own behaviours as a role model. ASC Training & Development

Project Outcomes • Design and trial of an online assessment methodology that enables peer assessment to contribute to a valid summative assessment decision • Enhanced employability of participants in leadership roles • Development of skills in participants and RTO personnel in online learning and assessment methodologies ASC Training & Development
