  2. Two Types of Reporting/Notification: • Environmental/Regulatory • SMS Events • Each Has Their Own Purpose and Associated Protocol • Following the Proper Protocol Insures Proper Notification and Proper Credit • Good and Bad – We Need to Know

  3. Environmental/Regulatory • Anything with Regulatory Potential • Report Incidents in Metrics • Link to ‘Environmental – Regulatory Incident Reporting Protocol’ Provided • Check if Unsure Before You Send • Submit Immediately After Regulatory Notifications or As Soon As You Become Aware

  4. Spills are Generally Liquids or Solids • Releases are Generally Gases • Near Misses are Spills or Releases Below Reporting Thresholds – or – Information within 10% (but not over) a Permitted Limit • NOV’s Should be Entered Using the Date the NOV was Received • If an NOV is Rescinded – Contact Sylwia to Make the Update

Regulator Visit/Audit is Any Visit, Inspection or Call Related to Compliance • Information Received/Potential NOV is for Information Received that Indicates a Possible Permit Exceedence or Non-Compliance • Odor, Noise or Other 3rd Party Concern is a catch all for anything not in the other categories • When In Doubt – Send Something Out

SMS and Other Events • Events that Support Our Sustainability Programs • Lets Folks Know About the Good Stuff • Most Count Toward Your Facility’s Sustainability Scorecard • Need to Match to Your Monthly Metrics to Count • SMS Event of the Week Goes Out Company-Wide as an Example of the Kind of Event We Like To See

Helping Hungry Homes must distribute food directly to a food bank organization • Community Clean Up must be part of a sanctioned program and company sponsored • WWMC Events must involve an outside organization • Stakeholder Meetings must include a sustainability presentation/materials that are attached

  9. Non-SMS Events are Used to Collect Information that is Not Scored but Reflects Sustainability • Lets Management/Corporate Know What You’re Up To • May be Compiled for Reporting, Website, and/or PR • May be Used to Structure Future Goals • When in Doubt – Send Something Out
