  1. Welcome to the DRA 2 Do Now: • Brainstorm a list of what good readers do. You may work with a partner or small group.

  2. DRA2 • Why do we utilize the DRA? • What does the DRA provide to a classroom teacher? • What might the DRA2 assess?

  3. DRA2 • DRA2 offers a method for assessing and documenting primary students’ development as readers over time. • DRA2 provides teachers with information that helps them determine each student’s independent reading level and identify what the student needs to learn. • DRA2 assess reading engagement, oral reading fluency, and comprehension.

DRA2 • Assessment Guidelines (pgs. 40-64, Teachers Guide) • Select a range of leveled texts • Have the student select a text • Record the students responses/behaviors for reading engagement, fluency, running record, comprehension • Complete the Teacher Observation Guide • Complete the Continuum • Determine if Independent/Instructional level is reached or if further testing is needed.
