  2. How you are eligible for Disability Tax Credit for Walking Impairment A walking impairment means that it takes an inordinate amount of time to walk even with appropriate therapy, medication, and devices. These devises include canes and walkers for example. To be considered as markedly restricted, you must always be reliant on a wheelchair outside of your home, and have difficulty walking 100 meters.

  3. To assist a patient with a walking impairment, mobility aids include crutches, canes, wheelchairs, or artificial limbs to obtain mobility. This physical impairment may cause patients to experience physical discomfort, such as stiffness, spasticity, or loss of muscle control.

  4. Having a walking impairment may impact an individual’s daily living in a number of ways. For example, lack of independence may arise if they need assistance with mobility. This can lead to depression, anxiety, or frustration as they feel they must rely on others in order to have mobility. This impairment may require prolonged bed rest, which can cause depression.

  5. For treatment options, physiotherapy can help to manage and improve one’s mobility resulting from a variety of causes. These causes include: wear-and-tear on bones, overused joints and muscles, or joint and muscle deterioration over time. Physiotherapists are trained medical professionals that are qualified to assess and treat the body’s movement system and function.
