  1. SCIENTIFIC MIRACLES IN THE GLORIOUS QUR’AN

  2. Consultant Physician and Nephrologist MRCP (UK) , FRCP (Edinburgh), FRCP (London) King Fahad Specialist Hospital - Dammam Dr Mohammad Jamil Al Habbal

  3. Al-Nasiyah (front of the head and the brain) in The Holy Quran and medicine (Prefrontal lobe). Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) functions and ablution (Wudu). Breast feeding in The Holy Quran. Embryology in The Holy Quran. Iron (Fe) in The Holy Quran and medicine. Water (H2O) in The Holy Quran, science and medicine. Sexually transmitted diseases (STD) e.g. AIDS in Islamic teaching and medicine. The Scientific Miracles in The Holy Quran (Examples)

  4. Message of Holy Quran. Number of medical and cosmic verses (ayaat) in the Holy Quran (ayaat with scientific reference). The Holy Quran and science. The Quranic system in the mankind and universe. Two books (The Holy Quran and the universe). The rationale for recurrence of ayaat of scientific reference in The Holy Quran. INTRODUCTION

  5. The Qura’n is a book of faith (Iman) and guidance (Hidaayah). It also includes educational dimensions for the establishment of a virtuous society. 89 "And we have sent down to thee the book explaining all things, a guide, a mercy and glad tidings to muslims”(An Nahl:89).

  6. There are many verses (ayaat) in Al Qur’an al Kareem which deal with different branches of science ( medicalandcosmic). • We have reviewed and classified these verses according to their scientific topics and also studied the rationale behind their recurrence in the Qur’an.

  7. The results were as follows: First: There are approximately 1200 ayaat which refer to the different sciences, which constitutes nearly 20% of the total number of ayaat (6236) in Al Qur’an al Kareem.

  8. Second: There are approximately 70 ayaat praising Science and Scientists, encouraging them to be involved in discovering the universe for the good of humanity. As a matter of fact the first five ayaat revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH ) ordered him to read and learn.

  9. Read! In the Name of your Lord, Who has created (1) Has created man from a clot (2) Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous,(3) Who has taught by the pen,(4) Has taught man that which he knew not

  10. Third: The studied ayaat were categorized according to their scientific topics as follows:

  11. The System of The Holy Quran: in the Universe and Mankind!!

  12. THE TRUTH (AYAAT) The Holy QURAN MANKIND UNIVERSE SCIENTIFIC KNOWLEDGE

  13. 1st. The written and readable book !! (The Quran – words of Allah -SWT) 2nd. The visible book !! (The universe – created by Allah -SWT)! TWO BOOKS !!(Quran and Universe)

  14. Day :365 times . Month :12 times . Moon :27 times . Sun :33 times . Sun and Moon in same Ayaah : 19 times. Recurrence of the following words in Holy Quran

  15. Al-Nasiyah (front of the head & the brain)

  16. The holy Qur’an describes the front of the head in the disbelievers being lying and sinful !! (ناصية كاذبة خاطئة)(سورة العلق: 16) Allah (SWT) says: (a lying sinful nasiyah (front of the head).(96: 16)

  17. Since the front of the head does not speak, how can it be described as being lying? It does not commit sins. How is it then said to be sinful?

  18. The linguistic meaning of the Ayah 15 - 16 Allah (SWT) says: (Let him beware! If he does not stop, We will take him by the nasiyah, a lying, sinful nasiyah!)(96:15-16)Al-Nasiyah: the front of the head.

  19. Most commentators have interpreted this Verse metaphorically, saying that describing the nasiyah being lying and sinful is not to be taken literally; the description is attributed to the owner of the nasiyah and not to the nasiyah itself.

  20. Other commentators did not comment on the Verse sparing themselves the involvement in something beyond their knowledge and the knowledge of their age.

  21. The function of this part of the brain that lies in the font of the human head (the prefrontal cortex ) is to control the human behavior. Functions of prefrontal area in the brain:

  22. The prefrontal cortex constitutes the bulk of the frontal lobe of the brain, and its function is involved in the making of one’s personality. It is also considered as a superior center among the centers of concentration, thinking and memory. It plays a significant role in the person’s emotion and it is somehow concerned with initiative and discrimination.

  23. Prof. Dr. Keith Moore, who stated that the front of the head is responsible for judging and for directing human behavior. The working organs of the body (e.g. the limbs or tongue) are but tools to carry out the decision made in the front of the head

  24. He, confirming what he had said, added: “When a person intends to tell a lie, the decision is made in the frontal lobe of the brain, which is the front of the head. If he wants to commit a sin, the decision is made there, too”

  25. Functional MRI of the brain

  26. Functional MRI of the brain showing the area of lying in the prefrontal cortex

  27. Prof. Keith Moore, illustrating this Scientific Miracle, says:“The information we now know about the function of the brain, was not mentioned throughout history, nor do we find anything about it in the medical books. Should we survey all the medical literature during the time of the Prophet (Peace be upon him) and several centuries thereafter, we would find no mention of the function of the frontal lobe (nasiyah), or an explanation of it or a statement about it except in this Book (the Holy Qur’an), which indicates that such information is of the Knowledge of Allah, the Almighty, Who knows everything, and that Muhammad is Allah’s Messenger” Conclusion

  28. Allah (SWT) says in The Holy Quran: (And to Allah prostrates whoever is within the heaven and the earth, willingly or unwillingly, and their shadows (as well) in the mornings and the afternoons)Surrah 13: 15 سجود الدماغ!! Prostration of the brain !!

  32. The rationale for recurrence of ayaat of scientific reference in The Holy Quran(Allah SWT knows best)

  33. A- To support the six principles of Faith (Iman), especially the Iman in Allah Almighty and in the hereafter. B- To stimulate thinking and scientific research in order to discover the universe. C- To express the power of Allah Almighty and his unique creations. D- To show the mercy and the numerous favours of Allah Almighty to mankind. E- To give evidence that the Qur’an is the word of Allah Almighty revealed to His Prophet Muhammad (PBU). The scientific miracle of Holy Qur’an.

  34. )سنريهم آياتنا في الآفاق وفي أنفسهم حتى يتبين لهم أنهالحق أولم يكف بربك أنه على كل شيء شهيد( فصلت: 53 We will show them Our Signs in the universe, and in their ownselves, until it becomes manifest to them that this (the Qur'ân) is the truth Is it not sufficient in regard to your Lord that He is a Witness over all things? (Surah Fussilat: ayat 53)

  36. We have deduced from our study and Allah knows best, that the rationale for the recurrence of those ayaat are to achieve the following aims:

  37. A- To support the six principles of Faith (Iman), especially the Iman in Allah Almighty and in the hereafter, for example Surah An-Nisa’ ayat no. 136. It was found that there is a strong correlation (about 92%) between such ayaat and these principles of Iman as follows:

  39. O you who believe! Believe in Allâh, and His Messenger, and the Book which He has sent down to His Messenger, and the Scripture which He sent down to those before, and whosoever disbelieves in Allâh, His Angels, His Books, His Messengers, and the Last Day, then indeed he has strayed far away. An-Nisa’, 136

  40. B- The unprecedented nature of scientific content: to stimulate reflection and research in order to discover more about the universe.

  41. (فتعالى الله الملك الحق ولا تعجل بالقرآن من قبل أن يقضى إليك وحيه وقل رب زدني علما( طـه: 114 Then High above all be Allâh, the True King And be not in hastewith the Qur'ân before its revelation is completed to you, and say: "My Lord! Increase me in knowledge" (Surah Taha: ayat 114)

  42. C- The scientific miracle of the Qur’an (I’jaz): to show and give evidence that the Qur’an is the word of Allah Almighty revealed to his Prophet Muhammad (PBU)

  43. )سنريهم آياتنا في الآفاق وفي أنفسهم حتى يتبين لهم أنهالحق أولم يكف بربك أنه على كل شيء شهيد( فصلت: 53 We will show them Our Signs in the universe, and in their ownselves, until it becomes manifest to them that this (the Qur'ân) is the truth Is it not sufficient in regard to your Lord that He is a Witness over all things? (Surah Fussilat: ayat 53)
