  4. WHAT IS YOUNGMASTERS? • an international gutiar summer school which strives to contribute to better quality of performing

  5. to present young artists with international concert experience who are also experienced teachers • to gather young players and students from different regions and countries • to avoid long summer of practising without supervision or better yet – of not practising at all • to enable students the experience of playing together and socializing through music

CONCEPTION SUMMER SCHOOL MASTERCLASS 3 - 4 days Older children (highschool) and students (university) 3 individual lessons learning from listening to other lessons as well the emphasis is on inspiration, and interpretation • 8 days • children from 8-18 years old • individual lessons every day • divided in small groups in which they listen to each other and also practice for chamber music • Main idea: children spend as much time as possible in the school; having lessons, listening, practising, socializing

PEDAGOGICAL ASPECT • We are open to all guitar students regardless of their degree or level of playing • We encourage socialization through organizing various of different activities such as: - picnic and a day at the pool - field trips to different surrounding parts of Samobor which have historical background - playing on the street - organizing concerents in different places

METHODICAL ASPECT Different types of lessons: INDIVIDUAL ->each participant has certain number of lessons with a teacher of his own choosing CHAMBER -> divided in small ensembles (3-5) participants have chamber music lessons with one of the two teachers from summer school ORCHESTRA -> everybody play together in an orchestra JOINED TOPIC-> lessons of guitar technique suitable for every age. Each year we choose couple of most common difficulties of guitar technique and provide participants different ways of practising them. And – it is more fun in a group ! 

  20. ARTISTIC ASPECT We interpolate music, poetry, acting and fine arts on the stage. • We encourage participants to incorporate their own work from other fields of art into our concerts at the end of summer school

  24. COMPETITION Youngmasterssupports every competition, but also celebrates artistic presentation in synergy with other aspects of art form. We are bringing a bit of competition into our summerschool through the project Youngmasters Excellent. Each year at the end of our summer school we choose five of the most succesful participants to play in a concert at the Museum of modern art in Zagreb.

  25. This concert is profesionaly organized in which each of the five young players have the opportunity to play a small recital. We wish to enable them to feel the real concert experience.

  26. TRADITION Youngmasters was established in 2011 by Vesna Faullend Heferer and it is based on the summer school in the nineties which She was succesfully running for four years.

  29. TEACHERS PETRIT ÇEKU PEDRO RIBEIRO RODRIGUES TOMISLAV VASILJ

  30. PETRIT ÇEKU Petrit Çeku was born in 1985 in Prizren, Kosovo. In his native town he finished the elementary music school and two years of high school music education by recieving the lessons from Luan Sapunxhiu. In 2002, he moved to Zagreb to continue his guitar studies under the instruction of Xhevdet Sahatxhija. During his school days in Zagreb Petrit won a State competition and several renowned international competitions: Anna Amalia in Weimaru, Andres Segovia in Velbert, Emilo Pujol in Sassario. In 2004, he became a student of Darko Petrinjak at Zagreb Music Academy. For this fact he is known and regarded as a croatian guitarist. Winning the Pittaluga Competition in Alessandria (Italy) in 2007, Petrit Çeku established himself as one of the leading guitarists of the younger generation. In the same year he recorded his first album for famous discograpfic house Naxos. He has taken part in master classes led by many guitar experts; Manuel Barrueco, Leo Brouwer, Zoran Dukić, Carlo Marchione, Ehat Musa, Scott Tennant and Ana Vidović. For several years he has attended Strings Only!, the summer school for string instruments, led by the renowned cellist Valter Dešpalj. After graduating, Petrit started postgraduate studies at Baltimore (USA) with his great idol Barrueco. His latest inernational success was the conquest of Maurizzio Biassni competition which took place in Bologna in 2011, the 16th of October. Music idol to the young guitarists in many parts of the world, an artist of immense talent and charisma, belovedfrom the audience and the critics! Recently called, in an article about his concert in Zagreb, with full respect, a Pogorelić of the guitar.

  31. TOMISLAV VASILJ Tomislav Vasilj was born in Zagreb in 1973. He received his first guitar lessons at music shool under Josip Burjan and later on under prof. Alemka Orlić. After finishing high shool in Zagreb he continued his music education at Musikhochschule in Graz (Austria) with professor Martin Mysleveček. He graduated there in1998. Besides studying in Graz he also attended masterclasses led by renowned guitarists: Pavela Steidela, Alvara Pierrioa, Juana Carlevara and others. Since 1999 he’s been teaching at the Blagoje Bersa Music School in Zagreb. Due to his extraordinary pedagogical gift and the results he has accomplished in that field, Vasilj is very popular and desireable as a teacher. Few times he was a jury member of the Croatian nacional competition. The most important thing that determined his career is his chamber music activity. Since 2003 he’s been a member of the Zagreb Guirar Quartet. With this ensemble he performed all over the world and participated in several prestigious chamber music competitions. The Quartet performed many compositions primarly composed for them. They recorded the album Fuga da milonga and they are currently preparing a new one

  32. PEDRO RIBEIRO RODRIGUES Pedro Ribeiro Rodrigues was born in 1984 in Mira de Aire, Portugal. He began with his music education there and received guitar instruction under Dejan Ivanović. In 2003, he won the first prize in the Sao Joao da Madeira Competition. In the same year, he became a student of Darko Petrinjak at Zagreb Music Academy. After receiving his academy degree in 2007, he continued his postgraduate studies with prof. Petrinjak again. He held his final postgraduate concert in July 2010. During the studies at Zagreb University he performed successful recitals in Croatia and abroad. He has also taken master classes led by famous guitarists such as Zoran Dukić, Carlo Marchione, Costas Cotsiolis and others. Besides having extensive solo concert activity, he also performs as a member of Zagreb Guitar Trio Elegio together with Tomislav Vukšić (Croatia) and Petrit Çeku (Kosovo). Along with the music of classical guitar repertoire, the compositions of Portuguese composers Fernando Lopes- Graça and Carlos Seixas are also included in his concerts. Currently he has been recording his own arrangements of sonatas composed by Carlos Seixas. He has worked at several music schools in Croatia and since last year he’s been teaching at Zlatko Grgošević Music School in Sesvete. Pedro Rodrigues finds inspiration not only in performing activity but also in his pedagogical work.
